So many people think that achieving happiness is this hard to reach dream. They set goals, they go for promotions, they work like crazy in order to make more money, they do anything and everything society has taught them will give them happiness.
The problem is most of the things people go for when trying to increase their happiness is external. Reaching some goal or buying some product isn't going to give you happiness. It may give you a moment of excitement but as you already know, those moments don't last too long. If happiness came from getting stuff, then people who have more stuff should be happier. This isn't always the case. There are plenty of those who have lots of "stuff" but aren't happy.
The key to being happy is to realize it's just a feeling that you create in your mind and body. If you wanted to feel angry right now, could you pull it off? Sure you can! All you'd have to do is think of things that make you angry. Simple right? You don't even have to go out and start an argument with anyone. You just have to think of things that anger you and use your body like how you would use it when you're angry. Make the angry face, tighten your fists, tense up, start cussing, etc.
Like wise, you could feel happy in the same manner. Think about things that put a smile on your face and actually put a smile on your face. Move like you would move when you feel happy. If it helps, imagine having loss some of the things or people you now have in your life and suddenly having them back in your life again.
Happiness isn't complicated. It's simple. We humans just tend to make things more complicated than they need to be. If you want to feel happier, just think happier thoughts.
Here are some quotes about happiness to help you out.

Having the Strength to Never Give Up
It's pretty common knowledge that if you want to be successful, you must've give up. Although this advice seems to almost be written in stone, it's not always useful advice. The reality is that sometimes, giving up might be the best option. Plenty of people struggle up a mountain towards some goal only to discover later on that it wasn't the mountain they wanted to climb up in the first place. Are the goals you're working so hard on really the things you want to achieve in your life or are they merely things other people in your life want you to achieve?
Another situation where giving up may be a valid option is when you're taking the wrong path up the mountain you want to climb. If there is more than one path, and there always is, and the one you're on just isn't working out for you, there's nothing wrong with going up a different route. If your goal is to be financially independent and you're just having a really difficult time with your current business, to the point that you just hate it, switching to another business is a perfectly fine decision.
Now assuming that you're climbing up the mountain you want to climb and have found a route up that mountain that you're okay with, then it's not okay to give up. At this point, you either have to keep on keeping on or die trying. Why? Well, think about it. What else are you going to do with your life if you're not pursuing the things that you want most out of it?
No matter how hard things get, remind yourself that when all of this is over, the pain of regret will be far worse than having to put yourself through the temporary inconveniences that are necessary to get to where you want to be in life. As long as you're pursuing a goal that you truly want with a deep, burning desire, don't let anything stand in your way. When things get tough, just remember why you started your climb in the first place.
On a related topic, here are some never give up quotes that may help strengthen your mentality and help you to achieve your goals.
